Postnatal Yoga & Pilates
Mums and Bubs yoga / pilates is a weekly space to fill your own well and re-centre. The practice supports mother and baby bonding and is a way to spend time with other mums in your area. The practice focuses on strengthening and stabilising the core and pelvic floor, and opening the shoulders and upper back.
Each session is held with the babies on the mothers mat. There are opportunities to playfully interact with your baby during the yoga positions. We may massage the babies, tickle them, chant, sing or rock them.
At any time you are welcome to attend to your baby by rocking, feeding or changing them in the studio. Each class completes with a guided relaxation and short, seated meditation.
The class is suitable to attend anytime from 6 weeks after a vaginal birth and 8 to 10 weeks after a Caesarean birth. After a Caesarean, please confirm with your midwife or your GP/OB to make sure that your body has began to heal enough that you can safely practice yoga. You are welcome to continue until your baby is eagerly mobile.
We also offer Motherbody Pilates classes with Sophie Jeffries.

Postnatal care
Postnatal Massage: Closing the Bones

Once a mother has given birth, however she birthed her child, now is the time to honour her, to nourish, nurture and cradle both her body and mind. Closing the Bones is an ancient massage that honours a mothers belly and hips. During this treatment, warm oil is used to gently massage the mothers’ body and then a shawl is used to wrap her pelvis. This massage not only closes the pelvis that opens during pregnancy and birth but also closes the circle of pregnancy and childbirth. It is not only a beautiful and important bodywork but also a sacred ceremony and ritual to honour this transition of the mother. This massage is ideally performed soon after childbirth (approximately 40 days post-birth) but has also been healing at a later time, up to a few years after birth.
These 2-hour treatments can be done in the comfort of your own home in the early days post-birth.
TESTIMONIAL
Highly recommended for post natal Wrapping the Bones massage. I arrived feeling like an exhausted parent of a newborn and left feeling reenergised and ready to face the world agains. Sue’s first post natal massage was a really turning point for me energetically. It has been incredibly helpful to replenishing my depleted stores post pregnancy and birth. Thank you Sue!
